As it turns out, the gorilla kills Albert and Edward is the returning twin. Because, in fact, Albert is keeping one hell of a secret.Īlbert is not really Albert. What no one really notices is that Albert isn’t saying much at all. But, he was Albert’s brother and even though Albert appears to be taking this loss well, perhaps too well all things considered, everyone has something nice to say about Edward. No during Edward’s life, he was called a spendthrift, miscreant, and rake. Which, frankly, was more than the rumors and gossip said about Edward during his tragically short life. Upon Albert’s return to England and after Edward’s funeral, everyone offers condolences and kind words. The legacy of the trip however, is not one of joyful brotherhood but of sadness and grief after Edward dies at the hands of an irate gorilla. The trip was supposed to be a brother’s last hurrah before impending fatherhood forced Albert into serious responsibility. And believe me, I’ve read a WHOLE lot.Īlbert, Earl of Greyling, is newly returned from Africa with his twin brother Edward’s coffin in tow. This book is, by far, one of the most bananas books I’ve read. Fortunately for us, they were not warned and the lack of said warning makes this book a roller coaster of extremely epic proportions. If only Albert and Edward had been warned, well, this book would have definitely been… um, more forgettable. Like, say, getting oneself killed by a fierce mama gorilla. This book is full of idiotic people doing some seriously idiotic things. Maybe you missed the sarcasm or the implied epic eye roll that commenced when you read the above. So that, perhaps all interested parties understand that getting between a mama gorilla and her baby gorilla is a very, very, very bad idea. One might think that one wouldn’t need a public service announcement such as this, but perhaps if one is planning a “one last hurrah” trip abroad with one’s twin brother before his wife gives birth to his first child, especially when one’s trip is in Africa, well, that might some advice worth giving and heeding.
